Mothers Day in the Garden
Freedom Dreams successfully launched its inaugural Neighborhood Market on Friday, May 9th, 2025, marking a significant step forward in their ongoing commitment to community outreach and neighborhood engagement. This weekly initiative will continue every Friday until October, serving as a vibrant platform to showcase and celebrate the collective work and spirit of the community. The first market day was a resounding success, highlighted by the planting of all twelve raised garden beds with a diverse selection of seedlings, including Collards, Kale, Swiss Chard, Tomato, Basil, and a variety of beautiful Flowers. The organization extends heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed Elders who dedicated their afternoon to preparing the garden beds, laying the foundation for a flourishing season. Additionally, a local bike mechanic generously offered their skills to repair bicycles for neighborhood residents, promoting sustainable transportation and community support.

Anticipation is building for the first harvest of the planted seedlings, expected by mid-June. In the interim, the Freedom Dreams greenhouse will be actively germinating a wide array of seedlings, ready for community members to enhance their own gardens. Furthermore, the Makerspace will be open and accepting commissions, providing an outlet for local creativity and craftsmanship.
Looking ahead, Freedom Dreams envisions the Neighborhood Market growing into a vital hub for the local economy. Each week, the market aims to host a diverse range of vendors from the neighborhood, offering their unique goods and services to the community. This initiative is designed to uplift the local economy by providing a platform for small businesses and fostering stronger connections among neighbors. Community members interested in hosting a booth at the weekly market are encouraged to reach out via email at info@freedomdreams.org.
